Posted by dexie On February - 7 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

I’m not into football but I do watch the Super Bowl primarily for the commercials and the half-time show, and the game too. My husband who is also not a football fanatic was actually cheering for a team (SAINTS) and got excited with the whole thing. Anyhoooo, here are my favorite Super Bowl 2010 commercials.

Your Bridgestones tires, or your life?? :D

I saw this 7 Red Things At Home photoblog meme at Shai’s Studio. Even though she didn’t tag me to do it, I’m doing it because it’s such a neat idea. I’m whiney when it comes to blog meme tags but there are some that I like, 7 Red Things At Home is one of them.

So what are these 7 red things

No Snow Sled? Make Your Own…

Posted by dexie On February - 4 - 20102 COMMENTS

Coz we did. Well, Hubby did.

snow6

We gave away our sleds when we moved to NC coz we knew it doesn’t snow here or not much at all. But after this weekend, we thought, we should at least buy 1 and keep in the shed just in case we get another snow next year. That way Daddy doesn’t have to turn a tarp into one. She didn’t mind though. She loved every minute of it :) .

BTW, the viney-wirey thing you see there is a grape vine thingie. During Summer, there are grapes all over it.

This is like my very very very late entry for Wordless Wednesday :D .

I told Caine to make a Snow Angel. HIs sister saw what he was doing so she decided to make one for herself too. Of course they stepped all over the snow angels when they stood up so I wasn’t able to take pictures of their masterpieces. DO’H!

New Couches

Woohooo, got our sofa and love seat delivered today. It’s so pretty and it smells so brand new..hehe. Hubs and I ordered last Friday and got them delivered today. It took 4 days coz of the weather condition and all. We went to the furniture store last Thursday and the set we got was literally the first thing we saw as we entered the place. The sofa both reclines on the side while the loveseat with a middle section for remote control compartments and 2 cup holders also has two sides that reclines AND rocks. Because there are pretty much 4 sides that reclines, Hubs decided to forgo the individual recliner that also rocks. Because of the small space in the living room we went back and forth on which combination we’re going to get. Sofa & Recliner or Sofa and Loveseat? On the drive back to the store on Friday morning it was Sofa & Recliner. When we were inside the store, it became Sofa & Loveseat. Sofa & Recliner combo was of course a few $hundreds less but in the end Hubs decided to get the Sofa & Loveseat combo so that each of us would have a recliner chair.

So we spent a lot more. It’s ok coz it’s worth it. Our previous leather sectional cost us less than $1000 coz it was from a Warehouse and we’ve had it for 4 years. It’s still in good condition and I’m confident I could sell it for $250 or so. We just really wanted a new set of couch that would match any house. The grey-leather sectional was kind of an eyesore after a few years, hehe.

I’ll take a picture of the new couch after our new TV stand get here in 2 weeks. I had to order it online and it’ll take about 2 weeks to get here. We’re trying to get our living room finished then next is the Master’s Bedroom. That would probably be around Christmas..

It’s The Before and After…

So this was the Before picture (9:35pm) while the snow dropped on us on January 29th. People went crazy in the grocery stores before that snow hit us. Even the liquor store had traffic  .

Not-So Impulsive Shopping

Posted by dexie On January - 30 - 20104 COMMENTS

I informed my husband 2 hours ago that I’m going do some online shopping for myself. He asked how much, so I said my budget and he said, “have at it.” I got so excited that I had so many windows open with different stores. I started putting stuff in my cart, dividing amounts on each store. I figured I’ll just keep adding then I’ll delete what I don’t really need afterwards, just before I do the final buy. Well, I’m still here and still haven’t bought any. Hubs asked me how it’s going and told him I haven’t really bought anything. Right now I’m mulling over buying bargains to stretch out my budget or get something branded that will last for a long time. I’m leaning on the latter so chances are it’ll probably be 1 pair of shoes or a bag.

I’m a bargain shopper but you know, sometimes I also like to indulge on designer ones.. I’ve closed those 3 windows and only have the one with Neiman Marcus site. So wish me luck!!

We Might Get Snowed In!!

Posted by dexie On January - 29 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

All day the local news have been talking about winter storm upon us. Actually, they’ve been talking about it since Wednesday. Today, all bets are off. People are in a panic mode. We went to get groceries today to prepare ourselves too of course coz you never know. My family, having lived in New York for 8 years are not at all thinking that it’s going to be that bad. Chances are, it’ll be like last year where it snowed quite hard for North Carolina’s standards. But that’s nothing to me, Scott and even Caine. It was Emma’s first year of snow. Nevertheless, we’re all kinda excited that we might get snow. So we went to get some groceries and my golly, people are just going nuts. The bread aisle was empty. I mean completely empty. There were barely anything left in the meat department also. You could count the cans of soups left. Vienna sausages were a hit too. And other stuff. Good thing I’m just adding to my pantry and not really panicking like them. To top it all off, on our way home, the liquor store was having major traffic. Hubs was going to stop by to get some stuff for us this weekend but the traffic was ridiculous. Still, that was funny. Snowed In? No problem, get snockered:lol:

Well, a few hours after we got home which was around 7pm, it was chilly and the sky was calm, it’s 9:35 now, and ladies and gentlemen, behold, the snow!!

snow0

The kids are going bonkers coz they want to play outside now. Especially Emma. But we told them to wait until tomorrow when there’s more snow on the ground. I’m actually excited too. So excited that my husband stealthily put a snowball on my back while I was putting watermarks on the pictures. I’m wearing a dress so the snowball traveled all the way down to my butt. That was freaking cold…

A couple more pictures…

Hubs Moves On….

Posted by dexie On January - 28 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

To a new job that is. After months of waiting, interview, more waiting, taking tests, (500 mind-blowing useless questions), health tests, and holiday break, Hubs got the job he applied for. He’ll start training on Monday which I think will last for two weeks, then there’s the transition stage, then he’ll be on the grind. It’s a State job so it’s so much better in every aspects compare to the job he left yesterday.

What’s so good about this whole job experience thing is, my Husband left a job from the company he also left early on 2009 to work at home. He left in his own terms and was in good terms with the Management. When they called to offer him a job around summer time, the working at home thing was a little tricky at that point because of the economy. So that phone call was nice. While Hubs has a good working relationship with the Management, after a few months he felt he had to look for a better-paying job with good benefits. They understood him. Interestingly enough, this company is actually being transferred in 6 months or so. Hubs didn’t find out about it until a week ago so it’s really a good thing he already found a new one.

When Hubs left yesterday, one of the Bosses told him that if things don’t work out with this new job, he can call him anytime. That’s a nice thing to know.
