The Filipino blogosphere is up in arms in reshaping the image of Filipinas online after a certain “Decent Mother” went on a rampage when she took umbrage towards a Filipina Mom using Sexy Mom as her online pseudonym. I used the word rampage because “she” left the same comments in all her sons’s blogs. To quote that ignorant person who is hiding behind the name “decent mother” :
You are a disgrace to the Filipino women. We have been trying to change the image of the Filipino women in the internet. Foreigners type “filipina†to search for women to have sex. The same kind of people (pedophiles and perverts) type “sexy mom†and it points to You . You are an embarassment to our country. Stop using SEXY MOM. Filipino mothers are loving caring mothers. Leave the SEX part in your bedroom . Mommy bloggers laugh behind your back because of your pseudonym. Filipino women are too polite to tell you to say that using sexy mom is killing the filipino women.
Now, most of you guys have known me for 8 years. You know that comments like that would just completely set me off. You also know I don’t tolerate stupidity lightly. Hence my own pseudonym, FeistyMomma. Anyone with a brain would know that whoever this woman is, she is walking around and populating the world, unfortunately, with her dimwitted logic. I took a deep breathe for a few seconds and after giving Sexy Mom my utmost respect and full support I searched my files for the Filipina icons that I’ve always had in my sites. After a blog hiatus for a few months last year, buying a new domain, switching to a different host, I’ve neglected to add them back. But now they’re back with a vengeance. Check the sidebar. I’m posting them here so if anyone wants to grab them, feel free to do so. Just change the link to where you want the icon be directed. The codes are at FilipinoLibrarian.

For the Fabulous Filipinas, you have to join the webring. There’s also a New Maria link on the sidebar. I encourage everyone to join that also. These steps are not the only ones you could do to promote Filipinas in a good way. Everytime you blog something about a Filipina, link the word to a Pinay whom you know uphold a positive image. We are NOT mail order brides. We are decent Filipinas trying to live our lives as positive as we can. And Gosh Darn It, we are HOT and SEXY FILIPINAS.

Way to go, Dexie! I still have to make my post but there’s no way “decent mother” is going to get away with her barrage of attacks against SexyMom without all the sexy mommy Filipinas (Pinays) around the world going up in arms. We are sexy Filipina moms, proud of it, and our husbands and kids love us the way we are! I won’t have it any other way.

I’m guessing whoever were against her using that nickname were from Pinas. I understand where they’re coming from ‘coz if I remember correctly, back home the word sexy has a negative connotation. I guess it’s still the same now?
It’s a shame that there truly are pinays out there who makes the rest of the decent pinays look bad.
We all can be decent AND sexy.. depends where we are or what we’re doing.

I’m a bit confused…so let me speak out loud here to understand the situation.
You are attacking somebody’s opinion because she didn’t like you’re username “Sexy Mom”? And so what?! Why get all upset about that?
The term “sexy” is subjective. You might think you are “sexy”, but other people may not, as that term is relative. I might think I’m “rich” but maybe to people like Bill Gates, I am not.
And furthermore, boasting about ones own personal attributes can be a sign of insecurity. If I had a username “MillionaireBoy”, people might think I was bragging about having a lot of money and was an insecure person for doing so. By openly using the term “Sexy Mom”, you are doing the same thing in my opinion.
