hair-030908 First of, I just discovered today that I am nominated in the Philippine Blog Awards under the Special Awards : Best Network Blogger category. I only visited the website this morning coz I was wondering if the event was done and if my fellow Mommy friend Rach won the blogger’s choice award. Who knew I’d find my problogging portfolio site as one of the nominees in the aforementioned category. It was such a surprise. And sooo cool :) .

The PBA is on tomorrow at 6pm, registration starts at 5pm. I’m assuming that’s Philippine 5pm time. I’m really not sure what the time conversion here for US clocks. I think you have to add 14 hours. to anyone who wants to watch it live through online streaming, visit Noemi/About My Recovery for all the infos.

I’ve never been nominated for anything this prestigious so I’m kinda of in shock and giddy..LOL. Thanks Philippine Blog Awards.  I wish the organization and all the people involved, nominees included a successful and fun event. I wish I could be there and partake in all the fun and meet everyone. Maybe someday :) .

Anyhoooo, this somehow makes my office makeover a little bit ironic. The juxtaposition of me getting nominated for being a network (b5media) blogger and doing an office makeover makes everything seem so bizarre :) . Having a nice office so I could work comfortably is always on my mind. My office is the little corner adjacent to the living room. It’s not a big space but it would do for now. Hubs’ office space is in the bedroom. I can’t work in the bedroom. It’s too far from everything else in the house. Having the corner office in the living room gives me the freedom to watch TV, work in the computer, take a few steps to go to the kitchen and stop in between all my time working to do chores, spend time with kids, and cook. I’m a multi-tasking pink energizer bunny.

My ideal office desk is a an L-shaped with lots of  surface space and shelves where I’d put all the geeky stuff I need for easy access. Of course this means I also want a separate office room. We’re hoping the house we’ll find when we move have an extra room where we could turn into an office. Hubby and I in the same room, working side by side. Maybe then we won’t have to skype each other or yell from across the room for questions, etc. We can just tap each other in the back. Of course a TV in that future office room is a requirement :) .

It was good at first but I wanted something flat surface and bigger somehow. We found a corner desk one with lots of room and shelves that I was willing to spend money on but the store didn’t have one available. Not even the online store. We looked all over the place, even furniture stores, but we found everything too expensive or too big. Or not available. Why can’t we have IKEA nearby? Last stop was Big Lots!. I really, reALLY, REALLY, did not want a glass desk. Hubby knew this so when we didn’t see a desk/shelf corner piece he was ready to leave the store. Until I spied on the corner a glass corner desk which I thought looked really nice tagged with $100. I was like, hmmmm, looks good to me. Hubs was like, "I thought you didn’t want a glass desk?". I don’t but the one we were looking at looked promising and I really wasn’t up to driving around everywhere for another day to find a desk. After the last furniture store said they didn’t have the one I wanted, Hubs gave up and said, "well, maybe we’re not supposed to get a new desk". Bull. maybe we just couldn’t find a glass desk that I like…LOL.

I like how everything I need is there. Even a table space where I could do my scrapbooking. Hubs also gave me the old chair back which I prefer over the new one. I can’t stand all those visible wires but it’s something I’ll have to live with. Hubs already bundled up most of the wires, which is covered by the black storage, underneath the corner/middle table. The green storage bin on the side doesn’t match the desk but surprisingly, it doesn’t bother me at all. It stores CD’s, papers, extra office supplies and craft/scrapbooking supplies. I was going to buy a fold table for my scrapbooking because I refuse to work at the kitchen table but now I don’t have to. With my new desk, I could pretty much do everything I want to. Work and scrapbook. Woohooo.

Hubby asked why the calendar is not in front of me by the monitor. I told him it’s because I need that space for my food…LOL.

The roll case underneath the table is my scrapbook case. 95% of my scrapbooking materials are in it. The bag right next to it is a picture storage/bag.

So what did I do with the shelf from the old office (refer to the old office pictures above)? I turned it into a shoes/bags shelf in the living room. :And the old desk? It’s Hub’s desk now. It’s perfect for the new laptop which he’s using mostly.

Someday I’ll have my dream office and office furniture but for now, this would do. :)
