Product Review : Swiffer
I have been a Swiffer user ever since it first came out years ago. We were still living in New York then. I just can’t remember the exact year. I consider it a life saver for the times I had to mop my kitchen floor or the bathroom. It’s fast and you’re definitely not lugging around a bucket of water to rinse a mop head. It gets the job done really good too.
Compare to generic brands which I discovered are worth the shit, Swiffer is the best. This discovery happened during our move. My husband bought the cheap generic ones to mop the laundry room from the old house. He practically used half of the container to mop a small area that Swiffer could have handled in 1 sheet. He still had a few leftover so I used them in the new house a few weeks after our move. It just pissed me off so bad coz I wasn’t getting the result I wanted. And I felt it too while pushing the sweeper. There’s not enough traction, so to speak. It just kinda slides down, unlike with Swiffer where you could almost feel the cloth picking up the floor stain.
A Swiffer Sweeper Starter Kit which includes the sweeper, 2 dry cloth and 1 wet cloth is less than $15 in any grocery stores. The wet cloth refill pack is $6- $7 depending in which store you buy it from. Dry cloths are available as well for dusting. The sweeper is able to reach high areas as well as hard corners to reach. And like I said, it gets the job done. It’s not bad to invest in a Swiffer Sweeper Starkit, and the refills afterwards. It’s better than wasting your money on generic ones that don’t work.
While the convenience of the Swiffer can’t be beat, for those of us with allergies and chemical sensitivities it’s a no-go. I can NOT stand the strong smell! It’s also not so great from an environmental perspective to use disposable products.
