Dandelions

My husband specifically told me today not to do anything but rest. Just sit in the couch, watch TV, and let my body heal. I asked if it is because I’m broken and he replied in a very sexy and authoritative tone of YES. The truth is, I’ve been sick for almost a week. The usual cold, stuffy nose, coughing, scratchy throat, and all that.

Guess where I got it from? My husband of course. That’s why he hasn’t had the energy and time to mow the lawn which means dandelions up the ying yang in our backyard. They’re annoying little yellow buggers but they’re actually cute. So I took a picture of them this morning instead of resting in the couch and healing my supposedly broken self.

Scott is going to mow them dead during his day off on Thursday so I better capture their yellow beauty before they disappear. I wonder if he’ll let me buy him one of those coveralls for men. Probably not.. what am I thinking? I guess I better take that rest after all.

15th Anniversary

I’m sure my friends in Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are tired of reading about our 15th anniversary but it’s obligatory for me to post this in my personal blog. Well, not really but I probably should and might as well. Yes, my husband and I are celebrating out 15th year anniversary. We’ve come a long way so 15 years a huge celebration not only for the both of us, but also for our 2 children. So 15 and more years to come.

This is us after dinner and before celebrating with some wine, beer, and tequila shots. Happy Cinco de Mayo to all of you :) .

And He’s 14

Just like that, my son is 14 years old. He’s going to be a freshman in high school in the next school semester. How does that happen? Please don’t answer that coz I actually don’t want to hear the answer to my own question. It’s a happy day!! We did his birthday cake-ice cream and dinner thing this past Saturday coz today is a weekday, he’s got school, while Dad has work and school as well. He won’t be home until 9pm tonight, and he’s working both days this weekend so that’s our crazy schedule here. Gotta do what you gotta do, right?

He got that new fishing pole 2 weeks ago, then on Saturday we gave him the rest of his gifts. A Nintendo DS card to since he already got an iTunes card this past Easter, and he also got cast from his grandparents which he said he’ll use to buy an iTunes card for his iPod. He also got 4 frames of classic comic covers. I wanted to give him a pre-paid cellphone but since he uses Skype to talk to his friends anyway we decided in the end we’ll hold off on that for now.

Anyhooo, thanks everyone who greeted him in Facebook and Twitter :) .

One Of Her Is Enough

She had so much fun posing for the camera when I took her pictures in this pretty dress a few weeks ago that I decided to create this 6-Emma Lyn picture illusion thing in photoshop. In the middle of cloning, smudging, and softening the background I couldn’t help but imagine actually having 6 of them. Then I smack myself in the forehead because first of all, 6 of these little things will drive us totally insane. As much as we love her, whewww, she’s a handful, let me tell ‘yah. That’s 6 times the attitude, and 6 times the expenses of dressing her up. Although the latter would be so much fun I’m sure, then reality will set in that it also means that’s +6 girls to put through college instead of just 2(Caine and Emma Lyn). And most probably, future 6 background check for any boy that ever comes near them. Daddy is definitely going to have major headache. So yes, we’ll just be grateful with 1 and let photoshop enjoy the other 5.

Dessert Before Dinner

Because my son’s birthday happens to be on a Wednesday, a weekday, and the weekend with that would be a working weekend for my husband, we decided to celebrate in advance. We did it yesterday. And since we’re being advanced anyway, we though we might as well eat dessert before dinner. Hey why not? So we had cake and ice cream after a trip to the playground where the little girl and I stayed in the kiddie place while Scott and Caine played basketball. I think we were all so tired from playing that we attacked the cake and ice cream without even thinking dinner. It wasn’t after Caine blew the candles that Scott made a comment about we were having dessert before dinner.

The earth didn’t swallow us whole after devouring our dessert so I guess we’re good for right now :) . I’ll write about more about what Caine received as gifts on the exact day he was born just so people don’t think I’ve forgotten to blog about my son’s birthday.

A Little Fishing, A Little NC History

Last Friday was the husband’s day off and the last day of my son’s 1-week Spring Break off so we decided to check out a place called Howell Woods. It has a few ponds for fishing, a small place with owls, snakes, and turtles, a HUGE area to walk around in to enjoy the nature pretty much. Other activities like horseback riding, camping, geocaching and hunting can be done as well. No golfing though so you probably won’t see custom printed golf balls during a long hiking trek.

After that, went to a small place to educate ourselves about the civil war in North Carolina. It was really cool to see 100+ years old stuff that were they used during those times. I wanted so bad to enter the Harper’s House which is 200 years old but it didn’t open at the time it said it will open. We’ll just go back to it sometime coz we were told there are a lot of exhibits inside the house that would tell more stories. It would be really cool to see all of that.

Meanwhile, check out our picture from the family day…

I Love Winning An Argument, Don’t You?

It feels really good to win an argument. Especially an argument with someone who’s got a one-track mind most of the time. And someone as feisty as I am. It is such an accomplishment in my daily mundane life. Winning makes me feel like I’m worth every breath I take on this earth. Like the tuna-popcorn argument I had with my feisty daughter.

Ems: Mommy, tuna sandwich and popcorn.

Mom: Just tuna sandwich for lunch.

Ems: NO, tuna sandwich and popcorn, pleaassee..

Mom: STAR tuna sandwich.

Ems: STAR tuna sandwich??

Mom: YUP

Ems: :D

POINT 1 goes to Mommy!

Our Easter Sunday 2012

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Sunday. We had a great one in the family. We got up at 7am so we’d make it on time for the 9:30am Church service. It was one of the few times we were actually early for Church. I mean early like we stayed in the car at the parking lot too early. We weren’t rushing like we used to, haha. Progress baby, progress.

After Church, we went home then the kids got their Easter baskets. After a few minutes I gathered everyone outside for Easter Sunday pictures to send my mother-in-law. Since we were all in our Sunday’s best, I told everyone to take a few seconds to smile for Nanny. Then after that, I got the pot roast set up in the crock-pot for our Easter dinner while Daddy scattered the eggs around the yard. I kinda went overboard with the eggs that he almost ran out of place to hide them. Then we went out to hunt the eggs. By God’s graces, we were able to find all the eggs. Then we all got chocolate-coma. Those Cadbury eggs are soooo good. I love those. We also ate some of the dyed boiled eggs that Emma and I made on Saturday night. I can’t remember anything else after that coz I fell asleep in the couch. I woke up just in time for dinner.
