2008 Christmas Personalized Ornaments And More….
We did our Christmas decorations this afternoon. Surprisingly enough, it didn’t that much time to do. Maybe because I already knew where everything goes. Or the fact that the baby was taking a nap so Hubs and I, with C watching and waiting for his turn to hang his ornaments, got everything out with no hassle.
We buy new ornaments every year as a tradition. Last year we added a new set of Christmas characters. Tree, candy cane, stocking, bells, Santa, etc. This year, Hubs and I thought we’d add the children’s favorites as part of the decors. During our Christmas Shopping (yes, I’m done), I found Disney Princesses stocking and ball ornaments for the baby girl while Hubs found a National Guard ornament and Stocking for the boy. When Daddy took the stuff out of the bag, C’s face was priceless. He didn’t know we bought all that stuff out. He just knew we have the Chocolate Advent Calendar and a Countdown calendar. I forgot to take pictures of those though.
Here are the pictures. Click the thumbnails for bigger versions :
When the baby woke up from her nap, I helped her hang her Disney Princesses ornaments. Then put ball boxes back in the storage closet and vacuumed. While enjoying the pretty view of the Christmas tree and decorations around the house, a light bulb lit up. I went to my craft space/office and went to work. I thought of creating personalized Christmas ornaments using the kids Halloween pictures this year and our 2007 Christmas picture.
Using my Canon Pixma Photo Printer, I printed the pictures that I needed.
With my Cricut Expression, which by the way is my advance Christmas gift, using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, I cut 3 tags. 2 with regular triangle head and one with the clover head design.
Using one of my crafty scissors with stylish edge, I’ve cut the pictures and additional scrapbook papers for design on the edges when I glue the pictures on top.
Using the Cricut Expression again, I cut 3 more tags using a lamination paper, like the green and yellow papers with the same design. I’ve had this lamination papers for years. Way back when we used to live in NY. I’m glad I packed it with me when we moved here to NC. It laminates whatever you need to laminate
. Anyway, I cut them slightly bigger sizes than the papers.
I glued the pictures on the edged papers, then glued them onto the tags.
Peeled off the white part of the lamination paper and laid it on top of the tag with the glued picture. There are extra space on the edges to fold on the back. The holes didn’t match exactly but enough to have the opening. Rubbed the laminating paper real smooth to wipe the bubbles off. Folded the edges onto the back and cut the extra edges.
I tied red ribbon into the holes and VOILA, personalized Christmas ornaments. You can do this yourself with your pictures. If you don’t have the laminating papers, don’t sweat it. It’s perfectly fine if they’re not laminated. If you want them though, just check out any craft of paper stores.
Pretty, no? I love my Cricut Expression. I can create anything I want. It’s nice having the CANON Pixma as well. I can print my own pictures whenever I want. It helps my impulsive bursts of creativity
.
So, are you guys done with your Christmas decor yet? Have you created anything personalized to add to your decors? Please do share

I Got A New Camera, He Gets A New Grill
Hubs got me a new digital camera a couple of weeks ago. My old 3MP Samsung one which he gave me for my birthday like 5 years ago is literally on it’s last leg. I’ve dropped it so many time the battery compartment is being held by electrical tape. So ghetto…LOL. Our son is now the new owner of that camera. He loves taking pictures of everything. OI. I have my Nikon COOLPIX L18. 8MP which is soooo much better than the 3MP
.
I got the picture from Amazon.com coz Wal-Mart only have it blue and I want to show you my new ruby red Nikon Coolpix L18 compact digicam. Woohoo. Pretty huh?
I Love My New Sidekick
I finally bought a new scanner/fax/copier/printer/photo printer in one system. Brother MFC-240C rules. The USB for the old flatbed scanner wasn’t compatible with the new computer. Even with laptop. We have an Epson Copier/Fax/Printer system but it’s old and it’s black and white. I’ve been wanting one for so long coz I really need it for work. Most importantly for faxing purposes but I know the scanner and the color printer would come in handy as well. I know how much Soap fans love scanned pictures from magazine. I’ve used it for some other sites too. I’ve scanned Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley’s wedding pictures for Engagements. I’ve scanned a picture of Angelina Jolie and Shiloh for Style Tots. I’m really loving it. The possibilities are endless
. So yes, now I can also scan the pictures of my children from last year. I think November..lol.

Em was miserable that day. It didn’t help that the photographer “De-si-ree” from Wal-Mart was sidetracked. Everytime we got the baby smiling, “De-si-ree” was chatting it away with another employee. It was a loooooooong day. Scott gets annoyed with the mention of her name… LOL. She also labeled our package wrong which made us wait for another extra week. Funny thing was, I called the day before pick up to make sure and she said they were in. I got there and “De-si-ree” misplaced it. She didn’t even offer compensation or anything. Hence the SEARS Holiday Family Portrait
BTW, with the Brother system, I now have 2 photo printers. The first one is the Canon Pixma. Awesome. I could sell the other one on ebay but eh, I’d keep both for now

I *Heart* My Canon PIXMA Photo Printer & Other Tech Stuff
Last week while waiting for the guys to decide which movie to buy, I stumbled upon a shelf of the Canon PIXMA iP1800 Special Edition Photo Printer priced as $47.57. I’ve been wanting to buy a photo printer for my digital pictures for so long but I just kept refusing to pay the HP prices. But as soon as I saw this Canon one in less than $50 price, I pouted until my husband said, “if you really want it..”
. It came with 50 sheets of glossy paper, black and white ink and also color ink. And a software for scrpabooking. AWESOME. Scrapbooking is exactly the reason why I wanted a photo printer in the first place. I’ve printed a couple of pictures taken by my Samsung digital camera and I love them. I’ll take a picture of the photo frame mounted on the wall holding ‘em and post it here once I find my camera’s cord. See, it fell back of the desk when Scott did some updating with our laptop. Not only do I have a photo printer, we also have a Logitech cordless keyboard with cordless optical mouse and new speakers. All black to match the laptop. Also we bought an external DVD-RW that pretty much does everything. The laptop one’s stopped working like a year ago. So anyway, 1/3 of our blogging paycheck from August went into tech stuff. Wohooo.
DISCLAIMER: This isn’t a Pay Per Post blog entry, nor is this some kind of a new media PR blog. Not that I have anything against any of them. I deal with A LOT of PR on my problogging jobs so it would be hypocritical of me to criticize “new media”. But rest assured I take my credibility seriously so I’m always honest. Bad or good reviews, I write it. Alrighty?. This is just a personal take on what we recently bought for my digital pictures and for our laptop.
