We are all busy starting or finishing up our Christmas shopping and looking for awesome deals. One store I love because of its amazing sales and deals is Kohl’s. That’s one of the stores I shop at for my children clothes, especially during back-to-school and Christmas seasons. I also love their affordable home items and toys. If you happen to be an avid Kohl’s shopper, then visit my house sometime, you’ll recognize some of the home decorations from there. I love the contemporary style, colors, and of course, affordable prices.
Speaking of affordable prices just in time for Christmas, Kohl’s is having its 2-day specials as part of the Christmas countdown sale. Up to 60% off for selected fine jewelry. Check out the department like the Kids toys, kitchen items, home decors, handbags, fragrances, and others for more savings.
Tomorrow is my daughter’s 5th birthday. I’m depressed. Next thing I know I’ll be thinking about 30th birthday presents for her. Thankfully, that’s still a long way to go, but you know what they say, time flies really fast. But before that happens, I gave her a lesson on recycling and how to be a frugal fashionista, especially in this economy.
I turned 4 of her old pair of jeans into play shorts. There are only 3 in the picture coz she already wore the other one. A tan brown pair. She watched me cut the jeans yesterday and then when I gave her the 1st pair, her look was priceless. Like I’ve just lost my mind, again.
I’ve been using my husband’s Gatorade water bottle for months now and it works fine. I have no complains about it. But I’ve always wanted a stainless steel water bottle coz I’ve read a lot of good things about it most especially the environmental benefits. Yah know, I try to be eco-friendly when I could.
I found this Outdoor Products Stainless Steel Sports Bottle at Wal-Mart for $5. Pretty cheap, huh? It comes in different colors but because I love blue, I picked this one. I figured the pink ribbon in the blue bottle looks better than any other colors.
Oh yeah the pink ribbon. Not only am I being eco-friendly with this water bottle, I also donated 10% of the sale to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. As much as I could, I support that cause as well.
I used this today while doing my TurboFire 60 workout. I think this stainless steel water bottle and I are going to be bestfriends from now on.

I was watching a Filipino TV show this past Sunday from one of the channels in my Filipino package, called Pepito Manoloto. It’s a comedy show wherein a poor family won the lotto and is not living the good life. It’s a very smart concept compare to most comedy shows there in the Philippines. And the actors are brilliant in the genre. Anyway, the episode was about a wayward stealing stuff from the house so the homeowners installed home security alarm. It was all good until the Man of the house couldn’t remember the code so he ends up buzzing the whole house every time he tried to punch the numbers in. It got to a point that the alarms from every room were too sensitive that they buzzed just by detecting simple movements.
So it made me think about what plan the home owners got from an adt pulse pricing. Did you know that you can actually choose a plan that would fit your needs and lifestyle? There’s an All-In-One plan were you’ll get the whole package. Then an Advantage plan where you get less but it’s customizable for your home convenience, then the Select plan for a few features that’ll fit your simple lifestyle.
In the All-In-One package, I learned that in a home-alarm system, you don’t just get the alarm for theft and burglary. There are actually other things monitored like fire and flood and carbon monoxide. Then there are the remote web and mobile access, e-mail and text alerts, lighting and thermostat control, small appliance control, remote real-time video, and the home control touchscreen. Interesting, no? This is definitely something to think about in the future.

I’ve found myself occupied lately with watching HGTV’s House Hunters and Property Virgins. In a short amount of time I learned quite a lot about real state terms, as well as property jargons. It’s actually fun. And while watching the TV shows, I also go online searching properties in Upstate New York just to see what’s out there to get an idea when we move back in 2012.
Sometimes I would search other states just to see the difference and how the houses look like. I’ve learned that I quite enjoy looking at houses even though I know I can’t really afford them. It’s just for pure online recreation and wishing for the stars, pretty much.
There’s only 3 more days before Christmas. I hope that parents did their research online the toys that made it to the list of lead recall. The year 2009 alone had a lot and most of these toys were made in Asian countries namely China and Vietnam. Even the years before that got scary because of lead news. Some of the toys included on this recall list of 2009 because of lead content were jewelry kits, purses, fishing pole, pen cases, animal masks, action figures from $ Stores, sports balls, dinosaur playsets, and even girls’ shoes just to name a few. 2010 lead recalls on the other hand included cloth books, horse toy figures from Blip Toys, bicycle bells, bracelets from Chandigarh Fashion, and basketball-shaped chair and ottoman.
To tell you the truth, I got paranoid and had this conspiracy theory in my head that China is trying to remove America in the map with all the lead recalls that were reported. I mean, was it coincidental? I know, crazy huh? No offense to China of course. I’m sure I wasn’t the only parent who wanted a epa approved lead test kit right there and then to test every toy purchased as soon as they got home from the store. It actually wouldn’t hurt to get one just in case.
We can’t be lackadaisical when it comes to our children’s safety.
