What To Give A 14 Yr Old?

My son is tuning 14 this coming 25th of April. My husband asked me yesterday what we should get him for gifts. We actually have something hiding right that we know he’s going to go bananas for. We just want to get him another item. I mean, the kid has an iPod which he got for Christmas. We just gave him a $15 iTunes card the other day as part of his Easter gift. He already has Nintendo DS which he got in 2010 for Christmas. I can’t even think of games right now that he could play in it. The thing is, his sister is pretty much the one playing with it now since he’s got iPod. He’s got a computer. Books?, he’s got plenty. I’m thinking of 2 things right now. A cellphone is a cool gift. Most probably a pre-paid one from Virgin Mobile, or one of those tablets for his graphics. So it’s either those two and a birthday cake, :) .

Bring On The Spring!!

I took that picture of the tree upfront for my Instagram a couple of weeks ago. It is definitely Spring around here. Although it has been a rainy and thunderous 3 days, the weather has been really good over all. And we survived another leafy fall and winter here in NC. It didn’t even snow at all. There were just so many leaves in the ground that my son broke the rake at one point. At least we didn’t need a Leaf Defier though. So yes, I welcome Spring with all my heart, allergies and all. I’ll survive the allergies the same way I’ve survived them through out the years. Bring on those beautiful flowers.

Oatmeal Container Turned Kids Organizer

I ate the last cup of oatmeal for breakfast yesterday and as I was about to throw the container away, I said, “Hey I Betcha I can do something with this.” I remembered how every time we go somewhere, I’m always looking for my daughter’s sunglasses. Then I saw the pencils at the dining table, and remembered the markers in my desk, and all over her bedroom floor. VOILA, organizers out of an oatmeal container. This is actually one of the classic ways in recycling oatmeal containers. When it comes to covering stuff with paper, I’m your pal. Just check out the Customized Toilet Paper Roll Telescope I made for my daughter last year. Now let me show you how I made these organizers out of an oatmeal container.

Sore Yet Energized

Day 3 of my Insanity and Turbo Fire hybrid. Every muscle ache I feel reminds me of why I can never complete a full 9 months hybrid of these programs. If I make it to day 5 I am soooo going to celebrate. If, I can get up to walk of course, Haha. I’m really not complaining though. Seriously, I’m so energized that I’m telling myself to slow down. During workout, I amaze myself at how good I’m doing the moves. I’ve always wondered how even through soreness from Insanity, the more you move the better you feel. When I think I couldn’t possibly do 1 more power jump, I end up doing another set of 8. I’m working this hard so I can shop for that very sexy lingerie, truth be told, Hehe! Most importantly, staying healthy for my children. I want to be alive and healthy to see them get married, have their own children, and to experience a different kind of muscle ache :) . That’s the purpose of my fitness nowadays. Well you know, it wouldn’t hurt to look good in all the cute dresses, shorts, and swimsuits this Summer. BAMM!

March 26th Insanity Fit Test Results

So I’ve decided to start Insanity again. I think I did it for 2 weeks back in January but this exercise is really hard to do with Turbo Fire which is also a hard cardio workout so I stopped it. I’ve been doing just Turbo Fire this March. But for the last week of March, I’m getting back to it again. To help with my motivation, and most importantly, accountability, I’m posting here my Insanity Fit Tests results every two weeks.

I have done so much better in the past but today I told myself not to be a show off and just take it easy. No need to be busting my knees and hips in the first day of getting back to Insanity again. So those numbers are quite humbling. The next Insanity fit Test will be in 2 weeks, with the hybrid of Turbo and Insanity within those 2 weeks, I’m confident I’ll be delivering higher numbers. I CAN DO THIS, AGAIN!!

Meanwhile, what’s your fitness routine?

He Went Fishing And He Came Home With These!!!

Last Wednesday night, Scott decided he’d go fishing after work on Thursday night. Actually, he’d been planning it since that Monday. He usually goes fishing with Caine but this time around he decided he wanted to go alone. They went fishing the past week before too but they didn’t come home with anything. The last they they caught a really big one was back in August of 2011. So it went something like this.

Dad: I’m going fishing by myself tomorrow night

Caine: Why?

Mom: Coz he doesn’t love you enough….

Dad: Shut Up Dex!!!

Hahahaha! Yup, Mother of the year, I am NOT! For some reason, the line from a Will Ferrell movie(Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby) was in my head so it was the first thing that popped out of my mouth. It’s called sense of humor folks…. or years of therapy for my children. BTW, it was school night :) .

Anyhooo, my husband went fishing and after a could of hours he came home, looking despondent telling me that he didn’t catch anything worth keeping when I asked if he caught any, then a few minutes later, he asked me to get the scale and camera to which I keep asking, “Scaling, Why?” It took me a few seconds to realize he wanted a scale AND camera, not scaling. Then I screamed and almost woke the sleeping squirrels outside. I probably did.

Thank You Cards By Dexie Jane

I made these 2 thank you cards last Friday night. Actually, Friday night all the way to Saturday early morning. I started at about 10pm and finished cleaning up my craft mess(worthy of calling cleaning services cary nc) by midnight. I’ve been in my crafting mode lately and ideas come in during weird hours. I was watching a movie on Showtime so I figured I’d put my couch potato behind to work. I’m a multi-tasker like that. I probably would’ve finished earlier than midnight but my Cricut keeps tearing up the paper when cutting the letters. It wasn’t until after 5 papers got into the trash bin when I realized, hmmm, maybe I should adjust the needle. DO’HHHHHH!

Pinterest Funnies, Series #1

I’ve decided to post series of funny quotes, and anything else under the sun that I find in Pinterest lately. I love that thing. It’s like eating dark chocolate while drinking wine on a Friday night. It’s delicious and addictive. And I love the funny and witty quotes as much as I love finding pictures of food, recipes, craft, fashion, home decors, etc.. Too many good stuff not to share so here’s series #1.
