March And April 2023 Reads

Just so you know, I’m still reading. I’m not ever not reading. I’m always reading. I just haven’t updated and shared them on the blog or on my Instagram. I make sure to update my Goodreads Reading Challenge though so I know I’m keeping up with my goal of 40 books for 2023. Anyhoo, here are the novels I’ve read for the months of March and April.

DEAR EMMIE BLUE by Lia Louis – 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

At sixteen, Emmie Blue stood in the fields of her school and released a red balloon into the sky. Attached was her name, her email address… and a secret she desperately wanted to be free of. Weeks later, on a beach in France, Lucas Moreau discovered the balloon and immediately emailed the attached address, sparking an intense friendship between the two teens.

Now, fourteen years later, Emmie is hiding the fact that she’s desperately in love with Lucas. She has pinned all her hopes on him and waits patiently for him to finally admit that she’s the one for him. So dedicated to her love for Lucas, Emmie has all but neglected her life outside of this relationship—she’s given up the search for her absentee father, no longer tries to build bridges with her distant mother, and lives as a lodger to an old lady she barely knows after being laid off. And when Lucas tells Emmie he has a big question to ask her, she’s convinced this is the moment he’ll reveal his feelings for her. But nothing in life ever quite goes as planned, does it?(GOODREADS)

WHITE PINES SUMMER by Sherryl Woods: There are 2 novels in this book.

Unexpected Mommy – 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A MAN WITH A PLAN

Stubborn sexy rancher and, single father Chance Adams would do anything to get back his share of the family ranch–even if it meant seducing his uncle’s ornery stepdaughter, schoolteacher, Jenny Runningbear Adams. Even if it meant marrying her. Even if it meant loving her?

A WOMAN WITH A DREAM

Jenny had always dreamed of finding the perfect man, but perhaps Chance, with his hellion, if lovable, son and his unbending grudge against her family, didn’t exactly fit the bill. She knew he had a one-track mind, all right–but was it just her imagination, or was he starting to get …derailed? (GOODREADS)

The Cowgirl & The Unexpected Wedding – 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
SHOTGUN BRIDE

Half virginal innocence, half saucy temptress, willful little Lizzy Adams had long since stolen rancher Hank Robbins’s heart. And then one night, passion overcame common sense and left them both with a little more than just wonderful memories–and the determination to do the “right thing.” For Lizzy, that meant not roping the rugged rancher into marriage. And for Hank, well…what would it take to make the beloved mother-to-be his wife? (GOODREAS)

The Girl in the Pink Shoes by Stacy Green – 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

My baby girl. This morning she was so excited for school. I bought her new shoes last night. Pink, sparkly shoes. She loved them so much. She wore them for the first time today. And now she is gone…

It is every mother’s worst nightmare. Eight-year-old Kailey Richardson skips out of the school gates in her brand-new pink shoes and never makes it home. Between the school and the safety of her shiny red front door, someone has taken her.

Private Investigator Lucy Kendall sees the fliers of a smiling gap-toothed Kailey and knows she won’t be able to sleep until the little girl is found. Having lost her own sister to the darkest evil, she is determined to help find Kailey before it is too late.

As Lucy talks to Kailey’s friends, desperate to find out who has taken the happy little girl, she begins to form a worrying picture of the days before Kailey’s disappearance. The blue car idling in the street outside the school. The friendly man across the road. And Kailey’s mother, Jenna, hollow-eyed and jumpy, clutching Kailey’s teddy bear and not telling Lucy everything.

Lucy has promised Jenna she will do everything to find her daughter. But then she discovers Jenna has a connection to the prime suspect in Kailey’s disappearance… and one which brings Lucy’s past rushing back to haunt her. Time is running out to find Kailey, but will Lucy be able to save this innocent little girl before her own demons destroy her? (GOODREADS)
