5 KDrama Adaptation Wishlist For GMA Network Primetime Queen Marian Rivera

FYI, this is just my own Wishlist for Primetime Queen Marian Rivera if ever GMA Network decides to adapt some KDRAMAS. I would always prefer an original script for her of course. Something that is heavy drama dealing with political/social issues or some family hierarchy business story ala HBO Max’s SUCCESSION or the classic DYNASTY. Possibly a crime-drama ala Law & Order. Or perhaps, a murderous psychotic woman out for revenge, HAHA. I actually have a show that I wish Marian could do but I won’t reveal it here because someone else might get the idea to give it to another actress and I’d be freaking pissed because it’s ultimately my dream TV role for Marian.

Anyhoooo, since KDRAMA adaptations from both GMA 7 and ABS-CBN are are a thing in PH Television nowadays, I’m wishing Marian would be given these much-loved roles. I’ll tell you my reasons for each.

CRASH LANDING ON YOU: First and foremost, of course! Marian is a huge fan of this show, the reel and real couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, as well as such a HUGE fan of Hyun Bin himself, HAH. I love the fashion here too and I’d be drooling over Marian’s wardrobe on the daily. I’m most excited actually to watch Marian portray right off the bat, an extremely rich character. Her network tends to deglamorize her all the time. Se-ri’s character is a softie but wise and hard and very much aware of some family members’ evil machinations to kick her out. Se-ri is always 2 steps ahead in dealing with them. I’d love to watch Marian’s style on it.

The problem I’d see here for an adaptation though is the North VS South aspect of the story which is an essential part of Captain Ri and Se-ri’s love story. I don’t know how GMA Network’s creative writers could work that out in Philippines setting.

HI BYE, MAMA: I cried sooooooooooooo hard for this show. I mean UGLY CRY 😭😭😭😭😭. It’s hard not to especially when you are a mother yourself. Hence, Marian being perfect for it. She can immerse herself in this character so convincingly and in a relatable and emotional way. When Marian cries, bring on a blanket because she will make you cry with her. I’m not saying Marian would do it with her own daughter Zia because I doubt Marian and Dong would say yes this early on for their daughter to enter showbiz but wouldn’t that be a dream? Ahhhhh….

OH MY GHOST: This is one of my favorite KDRAMA series. The chemistry between Park Bo-young and Jo Jung-suk was out of this world. I really loved just how they made me believe they’re actually together in real life, HAHA! I wish this show for Marian because it involves cooking and everyone knows how much Marian loves to cook. There’s a ghost factor which essentially makes the character act differently. There’s a bit of comedy too and Marian excels in comedy genre therefore her versatility will shine.

IT’S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY: This show deals with mental health which is right up in Marian’s alley thanks to her degree in BS Psychology and her experience from working at a mental hospital. I can see Marian getting into the dark and misunderstood personality of Ko Moon-Young with understanding and respect to the subjects of mental health and Autism.

STRANGER: As I’ve mentioned in the beginning of this post, one of my dream roles for Marian, either on a TV series or a movie, is related to crime-drama. KDRAMA Stranger would be an awesome template for GMA Network’s writers to delve onto. Marian as a Detective trying to solve crimes while dealing with corruption, bureaucracies, and the politics that unfortunately go with the job. How to relate and incorporate that into Philippines political/social issues would be interesting. It’s high time they create something like that in my opinion.

What do you think of my choices. I wish many of my favorite historical-Joseon genre series could be adapted into Philippines drama but I reckon’ that would be impossible. It just would not make sense. Some of you would probably wish for Marian to do the campy marriage-cheating-revenge stories but I’m kind of over those storylines at the moment. My bonus wish for Marian is Legend of the Blue Sea which starred by my favorite Korean actress Jhun Ji-yun but Marian already played a mermaid in Dyesebel so I doubt she’d do it again. But hey, you never know. Marian would certainly be great playing the character Shim Chung for sure who was dramatic and funny at the same time.

Dex… Love your suggestions, but I do agree on the plot for CLOY…
Leaning more on Hi, Bye Mama that will be the best I think… and of course it will be great if it will be her and Zia πŸ™‚ Iyakan na!

CLOY kind of drama would be perfect for a Dongyan comeback. I miss Marian so much. Love this family.
