Basic Cornbread Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 can corn kernels drained
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup cornmeal (or corn muffin mix)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 stick butter melted and cooled
  • 1 egg slightly beaten
  • extra butter to top the cornbread

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 355°. Butter/grease a square baking pan. Set it aside,
  2. Combine and mix the corn kernels, milk, and sugar together in a blender.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal(or corn muffin mix), sugar, baking powder, and salt. Pour the creamed corn, beaten egg, and melted butter. Stir everything together to mix.
  4. Pour into the buttered pan then bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes. Cool in a rack before serving.
