Easy Homemade Churros

Dexie Jane

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp powdered cinnamon
  • melted chocolate or caramel for dipping

Instructions

  • Combine water, milk, butter, sugar, and salt in a pot. Let it boil in medium heat while stirring constantly.
  • Stir in the flour. Lift the pot away from the heat while stirring. Once combined, return to the heat and keep stirring until a ball of smooth dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough into a bowl. Beat with electric mixer to help cool it down. Once cooled, beat in 4 eggs, one at a time.
  • Transfer the dough into a piping bag with a large star tip.
  • Heat up oil in a bigger pot. Test the oil by dropping a little bit of the dough and when it sizzles/bubbles up then it's ready. Once ready, carefully pipe dough into the oil, cutting in between. This depends how long you want your Churros.
  • Fry the dough 2 minutes on each side. Drain in a plate lined with paper towel. Repeat the process. Combine sugar and powdered cinnamon on a plate. Coat the fried Churros with the sugar mixture while they're still warm. You can easily do this in between frying.
