Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large green tomatoes
  • oil for frying
  • 1 cup flour
  • sprinkle of powdered lemon-pepper (+more for aioli)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • salt & pepper
  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • sprinkle of paprika and chili powder
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • sprinkle of garlic powder
  • couple of drops of hot sauce c
  • hopped scallions for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In one paper plate, season flour with lemon pepper. Stir together.
  • Beat two eggs with milk then season with salt and pepper. In another paper plate, season Panko breadcrumbs with sprinkle of paprika and chili powder. Stir together.
  • Slice the green tomatoes about quarter-inch thick. Lightly season with salt and pepper. 
    One slice at a time, drench the tomato in flour them in the egg mixture then coat with the Panko breadcrumbs. Repeat with the remaining tomato slices. 
  • Heat up oil in a pan. Fry each side, 3-4 slices at a time, 2-3 minutes. Do not overcrowd the pan. 
  • MAKE AIOLI: Mix together mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon-pepper, garlic powder, hot sauce, salt and pepper. (Add a little bit of brown mustard too is you want.)
