Make and bake the strawberry cake according to the box. Once the cake is baked, let it cool completely. Once cooled, crumble the cake in a huge mixing bowl. Use your clean hands to crumble. Add the frosting into the crumbled cake. Mix them together until completely incorporated. The cake would be moist and ready for shaping the balls.
Make mini balls and place in a sheet pan/platter. Depending on how big the balls are, this cake should give you 45-50 balls. Stick the pan in the freezer for an hour or 2, or longer. This step is necessary to firm up the balls.
When the firming process is done, put 3/4 cup of candy chips into a microwavable bowl. Melt that for a minute or according to the package. Do this in batches coz the melted chocolate firms up after a few minutes. Stir the melted chips with a spoon until smooth and in dipping consistency.
Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in another bowl. Stir until smooth then transfer into the decorating bottle.
Stick the pop stick in the middle of the cake ball. Dip into the melted chips, drizzle some in the bottom to completely cover the pop. Stick it in the Styrofoam brick. Sprinkle decorations right away. For the semi-sweet chocolate decor, wait for the coating to firm up before drizzling whatever design you like. Continue the process with the other cake balls.
Once all of the balls are coated and decorated, put them back in the freezer for 30 minutes or so.
