Lechon Kawali aka Deep Fried Pork Roast
For my birthday dinner/ New Year’s Eve meal, the main entrée was this deep fried pork roast which in Filipino culture is called Lechon Kawali. My husband actually handled the deep frying of this bad boy using the turkey deep fryer that we bought for our Thanksgiving Day turkey.
Before deep frying, I massaged the outside part with a few garlic cloves. Then Hubs injected it with a seasoning mixture of soy sauce, sage, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. He pretty much just eyeballed the whole thing so I can’t tell you the exact measurements.
Make sure to read the instruction manual of the deep fryer before getting into it. We used peanut oil to deep fry this pork roast. It only took about an hour to fry this. Hubs had to turn it down to the lowest temperature in the half-hour to avoid burning the skin. It worked out perfectly if I say so myself. The skin was crispy, and the inside was moist. Hubs did a good job in injecting it with seasoning.
Yummy Yummy. I think Hubby did a wonderful frying it and making sure it wasn’t burnt. He knew I was looking forward to this for my birthday. 🙂
