Pork Tips & Potatoes In Brown Gravy Stew W/ Rice

This is a perfect crock-pot recipe to save for this weekend. It cooks all day so you can do whatever you need to do after setting the crock-pot up in the morning. It’s hearty, delicious, and pretty cheap if you ask me. Don’t stress out about the seasonings listed in the Recipe area. Use any kind you like or whatever you got in hand. Play around with dried herbs but make sure you add salt to taste, of course.

You can serve this in a bowl with crusty bread which would soak up the sauce oh-so deliciously but try serving it with rice which is what I did. So good with rice. Pork Tips & Potatoes In Brown Gravy Stew will satisfy everyone’s tummy and weekend will be made for sure.

Pork Tips & Potatoes In Brown Gravy Stew With Rice

Ingredients
  

  • 1-2 pounds pork (sliced in chunks)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 2 tsp sea salt (or regular salt)
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tsp powdered mustard (optional)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder & herb seasoning
  • 4-6 tbsp flour
  • 2-3 tbsp saved bacon grease (or vegetable oil)
  • 3 medium potatoes (peeled & cubed)
  • cooked rice (or crusty bread)

Instructions
 

  • Assemble the team.
  • Season the pork with salt, garlic powder & herbs, ground mustard, dried thyme, and chili powder. Mix them all together.
  • Stir in the flour to coat the meat.
  • In a cup, mix together water and brown gravy mix. Set aside.
  • Heat up bacon grease(or oil) in a pan. Brown the pork for 3-4 minutes. Do this in batches if you have a lot of pork.
  • Place half of the brown gravy mix into the crock-pot. Add the browned pork into the pot. Pour some of the gravy mix into the pan then whisk the bits and juices together. Add the whole thing into the crock-pot. (Refer to the video) Then pour the remaining gravy mixture from the cup over the pork.
  • Cover the crock-pot. Set it in low and cook away. I started this at 10am
  • 4 hours into cooking, add the cubed potatoes. Continue cooking until potates are tender, about 3 more hours or so, or about dinner time.

I would like a crustry bread to dip into that sauce right now!!

But, it is sooooo yummy with rice, trust me.
