Sourdough Discard Cast Iron Pepperoni Pizza

Did you know you can easily make pizza using your sourdough discard? Yes, you absolutely can. Of course I’m not saying this could change traditional pizzas using pizza dough. But, if you have plenty of sourdough discard because you suddenly found yourself in your homemade sourdough bread era, here’s one recipe your children will definitely love.

Cast Iron Pan is a must but if you don’t have one(get one!!), use a regular pan or a sheet pan.

Sourdough Discard Iron Skillet Pepperoni Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oil (divided)
  • 2 cups sourdough discard
  • sprinkle of dried herbs seasoning
  • 2 cups pizza sauce (or less, depends how much sauce you want)
  • pepperoni slices
  • shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400Β°. Coat each cast iron pan with oil. Place the coated cast iron pan in the oven for 10 minutes.
  2. Take the pan out of the oven(wear oven mittens), spread thinly/evenly 1 cup each of the sourdough discard onto the pan. Sprinkle dried herbs seasoning. Put the pans back into the oven for 8-to minutes.
  3. Spread the pizza sauce.
  4. Then the cheese.
  5. Then the pepperoni slices.
  6. Put the pans back into the oven to cook for 8-to minutes. Or less, depending on how hot your oven is. Just keep an eye out so the crust don't burn.
  7. VOILA! Sourdough Discard Pepperoni Pizza!

You can of course make these with different toppings of your choice.

Let the pizzas cool for about 5 minutes before cutting to serve.

ENJOY!
