#Autism: Turning My Picky Eater Into A “Foodie”
Well, not quite a “foodie” yet but we are definitely working on it. She started with a baked chicken and rice with butter. It progressed to more baked chicken with rice and carrots. Then we tried grilled steak with rice. Somehow it always involves rice but that’s because it is filling and she likes it with butter. Not to mention that she’s half-Asian therefore she must learn how to appreciate the texture of rice and she’s getting there. Actually, she’ll eat that more sans meat as long as it has butter on it.
She has eaten BBQ pork, adobo, and the other night she ate beef menudo. This dish has tomato sauce with potatoes and carrots. I’m not saying that she doesn’t put up a fight but somehow someway she eats ’em and I know we’re slowly but surely making a progress. We still need to work on vegetables too but I’m happy that she’s tried broccoli and peas as well.
Just in case I offend anyone by using the term “foodie” when in actuality I’m only making my picky eater eat the food we regularly eat, I KNOW I KNOW!
